Hong Kong Dreaming is an English Feature film Directed & produced by Swaroop Kanchi. Co-produced by Sandhya Madhu Rao & S.K.Raghupathy. It was shot in 2007 and completed in 2008. The film stars Fiona Man & Kai C wong. Fiona Man is a London born actress & an accomplished model of chinese origin. Kai C Wong is an actor trained in Lee strasburg Institute in New York. The film was shot in Hong Kong in April 2007 & Premiered world wide with it’s screening at the UK International Film Festival and Premiered in Bangalore for the Indian audiences.
On 21st January 2009 it was screened as an Official Selection at the Bengalooru International Film Festival.
The synopsis
Hong Kong Dreaming is a postmodern romantic Dramedy (drama+comedy). A London university dropout returns to the well dressed streets of Hong Kong in search of the childhood memories of her estranged and now deceased father and for her tax-free inheritance to sustain her West Kensington lifestyle.
Unfortunately, she finds out that he died penniless and alone, with only a clue to a treasure he left especially for her. Meanwhile, she runs into her high school tormentor & ex best friend, Charlie, a broke, nervous and lost actor wannabe. Together, they hunt down her father’s inheritance & get to relive their moments of friendship. An existentialist film about the true value of money and the dull numbness of lost identities.
